These calm birds were developed in the forested areas of the part of Sweden known as Hedemora.
Good layers and also good broodies, they are cold tolerant and take a large part of their diet on free-range. Due to their very thick feathering, they are able to brood very large clutches of eggs.
They weigh around 5 pounds (2 kilos) and occur in many colors. I think that the pair shown above are really attractive chickens and hope I can get some like them someday!
