White-faced Tree Duck

aka White-faced Whistling Duck

Dendrocygna viduata

A male White-faced Tree Duck

White-faced Tree Ducks range widely over both Africa and South America. While, unlike many of its relatives, it rarely perches, it is a good swimmer, walker and diver. The sexes are similar in both plumage and voice.

Nests are usually constructed on the ground among long grasses.

In captivity, these ducks can become quite tame.
