Greylag Goose
A pen of Western Greylags
The ancestor of most domestic breeds of geese (except possibly the Chinese), the Greylag is widespread across Europe and Asia. Sexes are similar in plumage. The voice is familiar as the call of domestic geese.
The clutch of 5-12 whitish eggs requires an incubation period of 27-29 days (which I find fascinating, as the eggs of domestic geese require a 30 day incubation).
