Dalmatian Hen

aka Dalmatinska Kokos

The landscape in Dalmatia is very rocky and subject to water shortages. These chickens have been developed specifically to range well under difficult conditions.

Dalmatian roosters weigh 1.6-2 kg and the hens weigh 1.2-1.5 kg. The hens lay about 150 white eggs per year. They are excellent mothers and the chicks can fly when only a few days old.

Some of the hens have small crests. Although all the roosters I've seen pictures of have single combs, the hens seem to have a more varied comb structure.
