These birds are from Azerbaijan in northwest Iran. They date back to the 16th century. They are very rare now. Revival of this chicken was carried out by Mr. Gholamreza Kazemi of Marand city.
They are feather-legged, single combed and have a beard and muff. The common color is Black. Males weigh 2.5-3 kg and females 2-2.2 kg.
The eggs are light brown and they are fair layers: 150-200 eggs/year.
