Belgian Game Fowl

aka Liege Game Fowl

A Liege Gamecock: This is a very tall strain -- this bird stands 2' 4" tall and is considered only middling in height. He weighs in at 10 1/2 lb. The image is from 1977.

The three strains of Belgian Gamefowl are as follows:
Bruges Game (Brugse Vechter)
Liege Game (Combattant Liegeois)
Tiense Vechter or Brabantse Vechter

The Bruges and Liege have peacombs, dark brown eyes, and legs of grey to blaack (no yellow allowed). Since the 1990s, birds with completely black faces, and sometimes black skin and meat, are being bred in Belgium.

I'm not sure of the name of this strain, but it is a 12 lb bird that was used for fighting in steel.
