These birds were first brought to the US in the 1930s. They are hard birds to work with, as they are mean and will fight at the drop of a hat. No one has yet managed to breed this gameness out of them.

They have pea or walnut combs. The breed comes in a variety of colors including Golden, Silver, Red Pyle, Mahogany and White. Males may weigh between six and eight pounds. Legs in most varieties range from pearl to white. Tails are massive and long and the saddle feathers may drag on the ground.

They breed easily, the hens laying good numbers of creamy to white medium-sized eggs, and fertility is usually high.
