Overgrown Toenails

As chickens get older, some of them don't move around as much, allowing their nails to grow too long. This then interferes with their walking and getting around to eat, the nails then growing even longer and the chicken losing weight and condition. So it's necessary to watch for this. The nails can be cut back easily with heavy duty dog nail clippers.

These long, curled toenails should be cut back to just beyond the quick so the bird can walk comfortably
