Blue-billed Duck

Oxyura australis

A Blue-billed drake

This duck is native to temperate areas of Australia. In the breeding season it prefers densely vegetated inland swamps. The rest of the year they are found in large rafts on open water. They are rarely found on salt water.

They feed by dabbling as well as diving and are often found in association with Coots.
