These birds are native to northern New Guinea and a couple of the offshore islands. They live in forested areas.
In captivity they will eat grapes, slices of fruit, peanuts, some vegetables and wild fig.
The display coo has been described as a loud "Boom-Pa! Boom-Pa! Boom-Pa!"
