Spotted Dove

a.k.a. Indian or Chinese Turtle Dove

Spilopelia chinensis

A Spotted Dove

In it's natural range in Asia it is found from India through southern China and the Indonesian area. It has been introduced and is established in many areas including Australia, California, Hawaii and New Zealand.

They breed easily in captivity, but are very protective of their nesting area, driving other birds away. More than one pair should not be kept in an aviary or there will be fighting.
