Marbled Teal

aka Marbled Duck

Marmaronetta angustirostris

A pair of Marbled TealS

This rare little Eurasian duck was considered one of the dabbling ducks for many years, but has since been moved into the group with the pochards, due to its display behavior and lack of a speculum.

They are generally found in pairs or small family groups. Nests, well concealed in tall grass or the like, usually contain 9-12 eggs. The incubation period is 25 days.
